HISTORY Rosemary Campbell's School of Irish Dance strives to instill in it's students the various aspects of Irish Dancing and a respect for Irish Culture. The Dance Director is committed to helping each student develop self confidence and discipline as well as strict dedication when dancing in a team. The school's mission is to maintain a small and personal class size. Individual and small group attention is important in developing dance skills. This approach has resulted in a higher level of dance skills and fundamentals. The class environment focuses on competitive and non-competitive dance as well as performance dance. All classes are taught to develop a child's self respect, discipline, and showmanship. Rosemary Campbell began dancing at an early age. She was taught at home by her mother, Rose a native of Dundalk, Ireland. She began taking formal lessons in 1981 with the Myra Jones School of Irish Dance in Troy, New York and later with Fedelmia Davis of the Davis Academy in Rutherford, New Jersey. While under Fedelmia’s tutelage Rosemary established her record as a champion, competing at the Eastern Regional Oireachtas' (Mid-Atlantic), North American Championships and the World Championships in Ireland. In 1995, she took and successfully passed her T.C.R.G. exam. After spending one year assisting her former teacher, Fedelmia Davis, Rosemary opened her school on April 3, 1996, with just seven students. Today the school has over 80 dancers ranging in abilities from beginner to champions. Rosemary’s students have followed in her foot steps competing at Regional, National and World level. In 2005 her student Nathan Lucrezio placed 12th at the World Championships in Ennis, Ireland. In October 2006 Simone Rodriquez medaled at the Great Britain Championships in Bristol, England. This year (2009) Emma Putman, Simone Rodriguez and Meghan Largo will compete at the World Championships in Philadelphia, PA in March.
